Blog Against Theocracy

(Cross-posted at The Blue Herald)

(Graphic by Tengrain of Mock, Paper, Scissors.)

This weekend, Friday April 6th through Sunday April 8th, there's a Blog Against Theocracy blogswarm in support of the separation of church and state and the First Amendment. I can't speak for all the participants, but I view this as both pro-religion and pro-atheism. There's at least one minister already slotted to participate.

If you'd like to participate, write a post, then e-mail Blue Gal the url when the post is done (and a big thanks to her for spearheading this!). She's going to try to link all the pieces on the website linked above. The address to use is bluegalsblog AT gmail DOT com.

If you'd like a few ideas on the myriad of angles possible, check out the website, or some of these:

First Freedom First, an organization "safeguarding separation of church and state, protecting religious liberty."

First Freedom First is a collaboration between America United for Separation of Church and State and The Interfaith Alliance.

I recently linked the On Faith site.

There's also Talk to Action, which follows religious activism, particularly the religious right.

Theocracy Watch has some valuable material.

I also found this discussion between atheist Sam Harris and Christian pastor Rick Warren over at Newsweek pretty interesting.

Finally, courtesy of a post by Blue Gal, here's a short video from First Freedom First that really captures what this is all about:
