Levon will indeed be missed. I'd like to mention that he was producing very inspired music right up to the end. His recent album, "Electric Dirt" was wonderful.

I wonder if the likes of Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga will be producing worthwhile music in their 70s.

Brilliant post, and one that has certainly clarified some issues and thoughts I had on the subject.

This provides, not so much "ammo" in arguments I have/will have, but a clarity of thought to replace a complex dissonance I felt when considering the actions/beliefs of authoritarian theocrats.

Of course people of faith have a role in the public square, they just shouldn't have a privileged role. They can propose public policies, but they don't automatically get to have their way by citing their religion. They don't automatically get to win. That's really what Santorum objects to; he opposes any sort of meritocracy when it comes to policy and ideas.

This despite the fact that there's a lot of Catholics in Mexico, and the Pope made a visit to Guanajuato just a couple of weeks ago.
